Background: During the Silver Age, a mystery man dressed in blue became the scourge of the underworld. The newspapers called him the Blue Blazer, and he was renowned for his impeccable taste, good manners, and overall charm. He battled many threats of the time, occasionally partnering with the science hero Scarab. But the Blue Blazer's career was brief, and he vanished without explanation midway through the Silver Age.

Many historians of the period have remarked how the career of the hero called Overcoat began soon after the mysterious disappearance of the Blue Blazer. Some have even remarked that there appears to be a physical resemblance between the two.

What connection, if any, links the two heroes remains unknown.
